Astronomers reported updated observations of near-Earth asteroid 2024 YR4 on 24 April 2026. Additional astrometry and photometry collected since its 2024 discovery have refined its orbit and brightness estimates, improving predictions of its future path.
Current orbit solutions show no credible impact risk to Earth in the foreseeable future and no change to hazard assessments. Observatories will continue monitoring 2024 YR4 during future apparitions to further tighten its trajectory and learn more about its size and rotation (brightness-based estimates place it in the tens-to-hundreds-of-meters range).
